Hunter Shoots and Kills a Charging Grizzly

The Teton County Sheriff's office says
a pheasant hunter shot and killed a charging female grizzly bear
about 10 miles northwest of Choteau.
Undersheriff Denny Blauer says the grizzly, which had three
cubs, charged the man in heavy brush Monday afternoon after being
surprised when the hunter came around a corner. The man says the
bear was about three feet away when he shot it in the head with a
.12-gauge shotgun.
Blauer says neither the bear nor the hunter was at fault because
"the bear was trying to protect her cubs and the guy just reacted
to a threat."
