Saturday marked the 14th annual "Hempfest" in Caras Park.
Every year the event aims to increase awareness for the uses of industrial hemp.
Hemp is widely used in food products, biodegradable plastics, and even clothing. Hemp is part of the "cannibus" family, along with marijuana, and is illegal to cultivate in the United States.
Jeremy Briggs of the Montana Hemp Council said, "basically the reason that hemp is illegal is because of its association with marijuana, and that's unfortunate because all these different things that it can do. It's our job to make people understand that difference."
Industrial hemp contains less than 1% THC (tetra-hydrocannabinol), the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana.
