Hasalyn is from the Seattle area - she attended the University of Washington where she got a BA in English Literature and a minor in Communication. She joined KECI in 2004, behind the scenes in production and in less than a year, worked her way up to the producer/anchor position on Montana Today in 2005. In 2007 she was a key player in promoting Missoula's first ever Marathon - in which she ran, and documented the experience. In 2008, after traveling on assignment to Havana, Cuba she brought the News Channel an exclusive look into the communist country, days before Fidel Castro stepped down.
Hasalyn is passionate about telling honest, interesting stories. She's committed to showing Montana- through her work- what a big role, small towns play in the world. Hasalyn is invested in Montana - serving on various boards and volunteering for local non-profits - like the United Way, the Missoula Downtown Association, and the Missoula YMCA. She is also currently a candidate for a Master of Fine Arts in Media Arts/Digital Filmmaking at the University of Montana. When she's not working or in school, you can find her outside running or fetching with her black lab, Duke.
