Skateboarding is new to Hellgate Middle School's physical education curriculum. It's already offered in gym classes throughout 26 states, but Hellgate is the first to bring the sport to Montana.
Debra Sension-Hall teaches physical education at Hellgate Middle School. She says she saw the program during a conference last year. And looked into bringing it here.
Skateboarding is the third wheeled sport offered at Hellgate; including in-line skating and trikkes.
Sension-Hall says it's a life sport, that these kids will be able to continue to play as they grow older.
Sixth and seventh graders at Hellgate will take part in the program next.
