As a 3rd generation Missoulian, Monte's roots run deep in Montana. After four years in the USAF and then serving in the Montana National Guard, Monte began his broadcasting career at KYSS-FM and KLCY Radio.
Ten years later he accepted the position as Marketing Director of Southgate Mall and in 1995 he and his wife, Loie, started Turner Sign Arts, which operates today as Missoula's creative sign studio.
Their 3 children are split between Texas and Ft. Lewis, Washington/Iraq where
Cameron is a Kiowa Warrior Pilot (OH-58D) in the US Army.
Since June of 1997, Monte has been the host of MONTANA TODAY and enjoys every day. "We want to have fun, yet it's imperative that we report the news and weather that affects us. By introducing viewers to guests from a variety of different arenas, we feel MONTANA TODAY has a unique flavor that sets us apart from other morning news programs."
Being the "old goat", Monte finds it exciting to work with the young staff fresh from college.
"To watch them become more comfortable and professional in their work and delivery is truly rewarding. I know we'll see some of them on network news in the near future."
